Your ink has a story. What's one piece that still hits different when you look at it, and what does it mean to you now?
My medusa tattoo on my thigh is one of my biggest pieces and has the most meaning to me. I was sexually assaulted for quite a while when I was 15 and for the longest time I was in denial about it but when I got the tattoo is when I realized what it actually meant, it meant that I am resilient and stronger than what happened to me and that it shouldn't define me for who I am, it's just a cause for who I've become and helped make me who I am.
What made you decide to apply for this? What part of you said yes?
I did this because I finally started my journey on self discovery and self care. When I stopped apologizing for who I am and and started to love myself, I wanted that photographed in ways that I can't do myself to remember that I am powerful and beautiful. Also helps that my significant other compliments me all the time and supports me being me.
Do you remember the first time you did something that felt bold...for your body, your look, your life? What was it?
The first bold thing I did was cut my hair when I was 16. I cut my long hair and rocked a pixie cut for 2-3 years before I shaved it all off and it was the best thing I have ever done. I never felt like myself until I accepted that I could do what I want and not care about judgement from others.
